Patch notes · closed beta

What's new.

Eigencards is in closed beta on iOS. We ship between TestFlight builds — sometimes the algorithm, sometimes the deck, sometimes both. Everything we change lives here, in plain words.

Improved v1.1.0

Shorter questions, four new fields

June 2026 · Closed beta · iOS

You told us — over and over — that the questions were too long. We heard you, and this build is the fix. We rewrote the wordiest cards and tightened how answer options are written, so the longest questions are about 40% shorter and the worst walls of text are all but gone. While we were in there, we also added four brand-new areas of data science and 200+ new source-grounded cards.

ImprovedWe heard you: the questions are shorter.
  • We rewrote the wordiest cards — same meaning, same answer, far fewer words — and capped "select all that apply" questions at four options.
  • The receipts: across a question plus its answers, the 90th-percentile length dropped from 85 words to 49 (~40% shorter), and questions over 100 words fell 95% (327 → 15). "Select all" now averages two-to-three correct answers instead of a check-everything slog.
NewFour new areas of data science.
  • Data Management & Wrangling, Business & Problem Framing, Experimentation & A/B Testing, and Responsible AI & Ethics — the parts of the real job a model-only curriculum skips.
  • 200+ new cards, each grounded in cited sources — bringing the deck past 6,200 cards.
FixedCleaner card text.
  • Squashed a class of formatting bugs where a raw concept tag could leak into the visible question text.
Improved v1.0.2

Right level, every session

June 2026 · Closed beta · iOS

The "big picture first" calibration we shipped last time only ran in part of the app. Now every study mode — Daily Drill, Focus Sprint, and Free Study — picks cards near your level, leads with the fundamentals while a topic is still warming up, and opens the hard material back up automatically as your EigenScore firms up. You'll also start meeting the question types you'd been missing.

ImprovedNo more difficulty whiplash.
  • Focus Sprint, Daily Drill, and Free Study now run through the same calibrated selection the diagnostic uses — cards stay close to your level instead of occasionally jumping to something far too advanced.
  • While a domain is still being figured out, sessions lead with the load-bearing, foundational concepts and softly cap difficulty near your ability. As your rating settles, the cap lifts on its own — no dial to turn.
NewThe other question shapes turn up now.
  • Reorder and matching questions — and the other rarer shapes — were being drowned out by multiple-choice. Every session now reserves room for them, so you actually get the variety the deck already had.
Fixed"Select all that apply" cards.
  • Answer options now have clear borders that turn green for right and red for wrong on reveal, instead of faint tinted blocks.
  • The last option no longer hides behind the result panel — it scrolls clear, with a scroll indicator so you can tell there's more.
Deck update v1.0.1

Beta-feedback drop & first deck refresh

May 2026 · Closed beta · iOS

A round of fixes from the closed-beta group plus our first over-the-air deck refresh. The headline change: the app now starts you on the big-picture material and opens up advanced topics once it has real signal that you're ready. We also made the report flag much easier to find — that one's on us.

DeckMore cards, more shapes.
  • Bigger catalog across every Data Science & AI domain.
  • New question shapes — true/false, reorder, matching, categorization, numeric entry, and claim-and-reason — to test understanding, not just recall.
ImprovedBig picture first.
  • Sessions now lean on foundational concepts in any domain where the app hasn't established a confident read on your level. As you answer, the deeper material opens up automatically — no dial to turn.
  • Daily-drill banner actually rotates — phrasing changes day-to-day, and reads "even spread" when no single domain dominates your priorities.
FixedThings you couldn't find — or that fought you.
  • Report card is now a labeled pill, not a tiny icon. It sits in the header during the question, again in the answer reveal, and at the top of the concept-definition sheet too.
  • Multi-select reporting: tap every reason that applies — wrong, unclear, outdated, broken example, too easy, too hard — and submit once. Two new positive signals too ("good card" and "loved it"), so curation isn't only complaints.
  • End on the quiz and Back on the concept sheet — both got a real chrome treatment so they read as buttons instead of dim text.
  • Cards stop "feeling scrolly" when they don't need to scroll. Explanations sit static unless they truly overflow.
NewSettings you've been asking for.
  • Text size slider in Settings — and it stacks on top of iOS Dynamic Type, so the OS-level Text Size in Display & Brightness still works. Pick whatever's comfortable.
  • Music volume and tempo sliders for the quiz bed.
  • Speed-study mode: a switch that collapses the explanation behind a "Why?" tap so you can grind right/wrong fast. The full explanation is one tap away on any card you want it on.
  • Right/wrong feedback: a quick confetti burst on a correct answer, a soft red edge halo on a miss, and native haptics on both. Each channel — visuals, haptics, sound — has its own toggle.
FixedWeb.
  • The apex address eigencards.com now properly redirects to www.eigencards.com.
v1.0.0

Closed-beta launch

Earlier in 2026 · TestFlight

First build out to the Friends & Family ring. Eigencards starts with the Data Science & AI Field, an adaptive diagnostic that sets your starting EigenScore per domain, and a daily-drill session that mixes review, weakness, frontier, and breadth.
